We finished the Ignite Stage (stage1) of our inquiry by looking at what ICT stands for – Information Communication Technology. In our groups we then had to think of ICT’s in our classroom and put them into catagories on a T-Chart. Liam’s little sister, Lauren, was having a school visit and so she also joined in the work.

The engines were tuned, and the riders ready for the big event. Room 7 children took part in the first Saints500 at school on Friday. Vehicles ranged from space ships to racing cars and much fun was had by eveyone!
Today, Officer Trish walked with Room7 to the swimming pools. She taught us to stop at sneaky driveways and look for cars. We had to stop at every single driveway which was a little bit boring, but I think it was better than walkiing straight past. It also made us a lot safer.

I brought my goat Sid to school and everyone was all excited and shook up. Mrs. Rossouw made sure that we were all quiet. Sid got 2 first prizes at the AMP Show. He does not like wearing the ribbons on his back so he tries to chew them to undo the bow. When he drives in the car he has to go in a box with just his head sticking out so that he can’t jump around in the car. Next week he is going back to the farm because he is getting too big and breaking the trees in our garden.

Officer Trish came to talk to Room 7 about safe walking. We learnt the names of the road and kerb. She also told us that it is important that cars don’t stop on the yellow lines – if they do then other cars can’t see people trying to cross the road. On Friday she is coming to walk with us to the pools to see if we are walking safely on the footpath.
Last Friday Sarah came to help Room7 to make box cars for the Saints 500.The girls looked after Isabella while we were busy. Today we painted the boxes so that they look good for the race on Friday.
This week we have started our new topic. We are doing an inquiry about how technology has made our lives easier. As part of the Ignite Stage we did an alphabet key on technologies in the classroom. On Wednesday we got into our groups. We are working with Room10 children. The first thing we did with them was a Venn diagram about similarities and differences between technologies in schools in the past and today. Mrs Crang came to school and spoke about what it was like at school when she was a child and also when she used to be a teacher. We are really glad that we can’t get the strap anymore. We also think that school looks more fun than it used to.
